Chippy Ajithan, MD, Sarasota Cardiologist

Dr. Chippy Nalluri, a board-certified cardiologist, is quite the rarity, being the only female in a group of highly skilled cardiologists at Heart Specialists of Sarasota. She grew up in Chicago with parents who emphasized the importance of education and work ethic, and graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. She attended medical school in Chicago at the University of Illinois. Her love for cardiology began during residency at Case Western Reserve University. She begin practicing in Florida in 2002 and is trained in all aspects of cardiology including board certification in cardiovascular diseases and nuclear cardiology. A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, she has been named to Top Doctors by Castle Connolly. She is on active staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and a clinical assistant professor at Florida State University Medical School.

Dr. Nalluri cares for critically ill hospitalized patients and office patients, providing advanced evidence-based therapies. She enjoys the role of a cardiologist managing the full range of cardiovascular medicine from chest pain and arrhythmias to complex valvular heart disease and heart failure. Her true passion, however, revolves around patient education. She empowers each individual to make positive changes towards a healthier lifestyle. Die in health, not sickness, is her motto. She has given many lectures to groups and health care organizations educating preventive efforts and has worked with Go Red for Women to increase awareness that heart disease is a woman’s No. 1 killer. Recently she appeared on a charity calendar project, Saris to Suits, raising money and social consciousness about the plight of battered women. The efforts were recognized through her interviews with TV Asia, BBC and Fox News.
